The Annual Carlsbad Triathlon

The course starts at Tamarack Surf Beach, and goes on to the coastline of Carlsbad. You get to pass through scenic beaches, stunning lagoons as well as a wildlife preserve, so it doubles up as a great opportunity to enjoy the bright outdoors. This race is meant for literally everybody: from elites to first-timers to the elites. Feel free to bring your friends and family as this is one of those events where everyone has a great time. The race is usually done in heats starting with an open-water ocean swim, well-marked with buoys. The swim is later followed by a bike course, and finishes with a run along the beautiful Pacific Ocean coastline. During this time, the roads are always completely closed to traffic. The course is mostly flat with a couple of rolling areas.

Carlsbad 5000

For 35 years running Carlsbad 5000, as presented by the National University, goes down each year at around March. This is a weekend-long kind of festivity that kick starts on Saturday’s morning hours in the very heart of Carlsbad Village. It features a lot of interesting twists including diaper dashes, toddler trots and fun runs, so be sure to tag those little ones along. Sunday welcomes runners of all paces and ages to a swift oceanfront course that offers the most breathtaking views and vibrant atmosphere. After getting past the finish line, everyone gets into a full frenzy of celebratory activities with the best part being parting by the sea with friends and family! 

Carlsbad Village Street Faire

The undeniably beautiful and balmy days of Carlsbad welcome you to the grandest single-day street fair in the whole of California! The annual event is usually held on Grand Ave, just one block north of Carlsbad Village, and it is sponsored by the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce. The event features more than 750 unique vendors all with a little bit of everything, from antiques, arts & crafts, unique attires, items from across the globe and so much more. Kids’ rides, an international food center, and an old-fashioned pancake breakfast guarantee that you’ll find fun for the whole family! Parking for this very prevalent event is limited, so it is best if you use the complimentary shuttles that run to and from the faire every 15 minutes.
